Nigerian social media personality VeryDarkMan has reacted strongly to the controversy surrounding an alleged AI-generated audio linked to President Bola Tinubu.
The online commentator criticised presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga while also questioning the government’s response to rising insecurity and recent school abductions in the country.
Presidency Threatened Legal Action
The controversy followed remarks by the Presidency indicating that legal action could be taken over the circulation of an alleged fake audio clip associated with Tinubu.
An X user identified as @Pious_minister had earlier claimed that an AI-generated audio featuring a voice resembling the President appeared in one of VeryDarkMan’s videos.
The audio allegedly contained controversial remarks relating to insecurity and the 2023 presidential election.
VeryDarkMan Rejects Responsibility for Audio
Reacting through a video shared on social media, VeryDarkMan distanced himself from the disputed clip.
He stated that he would not defend the controversial recording while insisting that many people online were wrongly interpreting the issue.
The activist also used the opportunity to criticise the Presidency over what he described as inadequate attention to worsening security challenges.
Criticism Over School Abductions
VeryDarkMan referenced reports of abducted teachers and schoolchildren in Oyo State, questioning why authorities had not publicly addressed the situation with the same urgency.
According to him, national attention should remain focused on insecurity and the safety of citizens, particularly children reportedly still in captivity.
The comments have since generated widespread reactions across social media platforms.
