The Presidency has warned that legal action may be taken over the circulation of an alleged fake audio clip linked to President Bola Tinubu and Nigerian social media personality VeryDarkMan.
The controversy emerged after a social media post claimed that an AI-generated audio featuring a voice resembling the President was played in one of VDM’s videos.
Presidency Reacts to Viral Audio Claim
Reacting to the development, presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga criticised the circulation of the alleged recording, describing it as a misuse of social media platforms.
According to him, those responsible for spreading manipulated content online should face legal consequences.
“This VDM needs to face the weight of the law for being the conveyor and disseminator of a fake audio of President Tinubu,” Onanuga wrote on his official X account.
Audio Allegedly Generated With AI Technology
The disputed audio reportedly featured a voice resembling Tinubu making controversial remarks about insecurity and the 2023 election.
The clip was referenced in a post shared by an X user identified as @Pious_minister.
However, the authenticity of the recording has not been independently verified.

Despite the Presidency’s reaction, checks reportedly indicated that the alleged audio was not directly found in VDM’s published videos.
