President Bola Tinubu recorded a decisive victory during the All Progressives Congress presidential primary election held in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State on Saturday.
The APC presidential primary attracted party leaders, supporters and stakeholders who gathered in large numbers to participate in the direct primary exercise ahead of the 2027 general election.
Tinubu Dominates APC Presidential Primary
The APC presidential primary took place at Ireti Nursery and Primary School located on Mekwen Street, off Queens Drive in Ikoyi, Lagos.
President Tinubu contested against businessman Sterlyn Osifo for the party’s presidential ticket.
Voting started early under heavy security presence as APC members turned out across the ward to cast their votes.
At the end of the exercise, Tinubu secured 4,996 votes out of the 5,163 accredited voters announced by election officials.
APC Leaders Back Tinubu In Lagos
Several prominent APC leaders monitored the APC presidential primary in Lagos.
Those present included Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former Minister of Finance Wale Edun, APC Lagos Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi and party chieftain Kola Peregrino.
President Tinubu arrived at the polling centre around 11:35 a.m. shortly after voter accreditation ended.
Speaking during the exercise, Ojelabi praised party members for maintaining order and supporting the APC leadership.
APC Primary Conducted Under Tight Security
Security operatives maintained a strong presence throughout the APC presidential primary to ensure smooth conduct of the election.
Party supporters also gathered around the venue in solidarity with the President as voting continued peacefully.
The ward returning officer, Martha Adikwu, later confirmed Tinubu’s landslide victory after the final vote count.
The result strengthens Tinubu’s position ahead of the APC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
