Nigerian street-pop singer Portable has revealed that he narrowly escaped a car accident after his vehicle reportedly suffered brake failure in Ogun State.
The controversial singer shared the incident with fans through videos posted on his Instagram story late Thursday night, thanking God for surviving the crash without injuries.
Portable explained that he intentionally drove into a roadside ditch to avoid colliding with another vehicle after losing control of the brakes.
Portable Speaks About Brake Failure
According to the singer, the accident happened on a familiar road within his neighbourhood in Ogun State.
Portable said he suddenly discovered that the brakes of his vehicle were no longer responding while driving.
The singer explained that his quick decision prevented what could have become a serious tragedy.
He also appealed to the government to complete repairs on the road where the incident happened.
“I pressed the brake, but it did not respond. I thank God nothing happened to me,” Portable said in one of the videos.
Singer Escapes Without Injuries
Portable confirmed that he came out of the accident unhurt and said his vehicle also escaped major damage.
The singer expressed gratitude that no heavy-duty truck was passing at the time the brake failure occurred.
He noted that the situation could have turned deadly if another large vehicle had been on the road.

Accident Happened Before Son’s Naming Ceremony
Portable also revealed that the incident happened barely one day before the naming ceremony of his newborn son.
The singer disclosed that he had already purchased two cows for the celebration before the accident occurred.
The naming ceremony is for his son, Fijabi, whom he welcomed with his wife, Bewaji.
