Troops of the Nigerian Army, working alongside operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, have arrested six suspected drug peddlers during a joint operation in Katsina State.
The operation was reportedly carried out in Kauyan Dawo community, located in Malumfashi Local Government Area of the state.
Security Forces Conduct Raid in Malumfashi
According to security reports, troops of the 17 Brigade from the Forward Operating Base in Malumfashi carried out the operation on May 9, 2026.
The raid followed intelligence reports linking some individuals in the community to alleged drug-related activities.
Security sources said the joint team stormed the area at about 5:30 p.m., leading to the arrest of six suspects.
Drugs Recovered During Operation
Authorities disclosed that several substances suspected to be illegal drugs were recovered during the raid.
Recovered items reportedly included:
- 82.5 grams of cannabis sativa
- 15.7 grams of Exol-5
- 1.8 grams of D5
The seized substances and suspects were later handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Authorities Intensify Crackdown on Drug Crimes
Military authorities stated that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and criminal activities in communities across Katsina State.
Security agencies have continued to increase joint operations aimed at tackling drug trafficking, banditry, and other security threats in northern Nigeria.
