Peter Obi has called on Nigerians, particularly young people, to rise against what he described as the “Goliaths” in the country’s political system ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a youth conference in Abuja, Obi said the country urgently needs courageous leaders capable of confronting corruption, poor governance and economic hardship.

Obi Says Politicians Are Blocking Nigeria’s Progress

The former Labour Party presidential candidate described many political leaders as major obstacles to national development.

According to him, corruption and the diversion of public resources have weakened critical sectors including healthcare, education, electricity and security.

Obi stated that ordinary Nigerians must now identify and support leaders committed to genuine national transformation.

Addressing participants at the conference organised by Rev. Fr. John Chinenye Oluoma in Abuja, Obi urged young Nigerians not to lose hope despite the country’s challenges.

According to him, the country needs principled individuals willing to confront the system and prioritise public welfare.
