FUOYE Reinstates Suspended SUG President James Adio After NANS Intervention

FUOYE SUG President James Adio returns after suspension was lifted

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has announced the reinstatement of suspended Federal University Oye-Ekiti Students’ Union Government President, James Adio.

NANS President, Akinteye Babatunde, confirmed the development in a post shared on X, following discussions between the student body and the university management.

The reinstatement comes after weeks of engagement over the suspension of Adio and other affected students.

Student body praises intervention

Babatunde had earlier disclosed that the university’s Senate would review Adio’s case after what NANS described as a high-level engagement with the institution.

Following the decision, he announced that Adio had officially returned to his position as SUG president.

He also stated that other suspended students had been reinstated and permitted to participate in their examinations.

Suspension followed financial allegations

Adio was suspended alongside two other students over alleged financial irregularities connected to practical fees.

The decision attracted reactions from NANS, which called for a fair review of the matter.

The student organisation later engaged the university authorities, leading to the review of the disciplinary action.

NANS welcomes resolution

The association said the outcome reflects efforts to protect students’ interests while ensuring that institutional procedures are respected.

The university has not announced further details regarding the resolution.
