The Department of State Services, DSS, has questioned social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, over a leaked video connected to an ongoing alleged coup trial.
The development followed a directive from Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja, who ordered an investigation into how the restricted footage became available to the public.
The video was reportedly presented as evidence in the trial involving individuals accused of attempting to overthrow the government.
Court raises concerns over restricted video
During court proceedings on June 23 and 24, 2026, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Rotimi Oyedepo, told the court that the restricted footage was being shared on VeryDarkMan’s social media platforms.
The prosecution argued that the circulation of the video went against an earlier court order limiting its distribution.
Following the development, authorities began investigating the circumstances surrounding the release of the footage.
VeryDarkMan speaks after DSS visit
Reacting to the incident, VeryDarkMan confirmed that he was invited by the DSS for questioning.
He said he spent several hours at the agency’s office before being released in the early hours of the morning.
The influencer stated that the interrogation was related to a video he shared online days earlier.
Investigation continues
The matter remains linked to the ongoing court case involving allegations of an attempted coup, which began after the arrest of several suspects in 2024.
Authorities are expected to continue examining how the restricted material entered the public space.
