One of Hong Kong’s biggest LGBTQ community events, Pink Dot, has been cancelled for the second year in a row after organisers said their planned venue became unavailable during the final stage of preparations.
The annual event, known for promoting diversity, inclusion and LGBTQ awareness, was scheduled to hold in June before the sudden cancellation announcement.
Organisers Cite Venue and Licensing Challenges
According to organisers, the venue management informed them that the location could no longer be rented due to licensing-related concerns.
The cancellation reportedly came while preparations for the event were already at an advanced stage, creating uncertainty for participating groups and attendees.
Pink Dot organisers said the limited timeframe and pending approvals made it impossible to proceed with the festival as planned.

Pink Dot Hong Kong was launched in 2014 and has grown into one of the city’s most recognised LGBTQ gatherings.
The event traditionally features music performances, workshops, art exhibitions and discussions focused on equality and diversity.
In previous years, the carnival attracted thousands of participants from different communities and organisations.

This marks the second straight year the event has been cancelled.
Organisers previously disclosed that last year’s edition was also unable to proceed after difficulties securing a venue.
