Socio-political activist Aisha Yesufu has urged supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to remain focused and committed ahead of the party’s senatorial primary in the Federal Capital Territory.
Yesufu made the remarks in a post shared on her X account on Wednesday while addressing party members and supporters preparing for the primary election process.
Aisha Yesufu Rejects Politics of Fear
According to the activist, elections cannot be won through propaganda or smear campaigns on social media.
She argued that political success depends on direct engagement with voters through empathy, compassion and respect.
“Election is not won by social media propaganda nor by an orchestrated smear campaign,” she wrote.
“Election is won by engaging the electorate one wishes to serve respectfully and with empathy and compassion.”
Call for Grassroots Mobilisation Across FCT
Yesufu encouraged registered NDC members in the FCT to continue grassroots mobilisation efforts across all wards ahead of the primaries.
She stressed the importance of building support structures on the ground rather than relying solely on online campaigns.
“To my teeming supporters across the FCT, do not be deterred, continue your groundwork across the 62 wards,” she stated.

The activist also urged voters to make political decisions based on conviction rather than fear.
According to her, Nigerians must embrace courage and democratic participation while supporting candidates they believe can genuinely represent public interests.
She reiterated her confidence in the readiness of her political camp ahead of the primary election.
“We are ready to meet them on the primaries ground,” she added.
Debate Intensifies Ahead of NDC Primaries
Yesufu’s comments have added to growing political conversations surrounding internal party contests and voter mobilisation in the FCT.
Her remarks also reflect increasing emphasis on grassroots politics and direct voter engagement ahead of future elections.
