Twelve teams have officially been eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup ahead of the final round of group-stage matches.
The affected countries can no longer qualify for the knockout stage after their results in the tournament.
Iraq, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, and New Zealand became the latest teams to leave the competition following their final group fixtures.
Latest teams knocked out
Senegal secured a convincing 5-0 victory over 10-man Iraq, ending the Asian side’s hopes of progressing.
New Zealand were also eliminated after suffering a heavy 5-1 defeat against Belgium.
Uruguay’s campaign ended after a narrow 1-0 loss to Spain, while Saudi Arabia were knocked out despite playing out a goalless draw with Cape Verde.
More teams set to leave tournament
A total of 16 teams will miss out on the knockout rounds once the group stage concludes.
The remaining fixtures will determine the final teams that advance to the next stage of football’s biggest international competition.
