France forward Ousmane Dembele has written his name into World Cup history after scoring a hat-trick in France’s final group-stage match against Norway.
The Paris Saint-Germain star delivered a brilliant performance as France secured a 4-1 victory, with Desire Doue also finding the net.
Dembele’s three goals arrived within the opening 32 minutes, making it one of the fastest World Cup hat-tricks ever recorded.
French forward joins elite list
According to OptaJoe, Dembele’s achievement ranks as the second quickest hat-trick in FIFA World Cup history.
The only player to complete the feat faster was Austria’s Erich Probst, who scored three goals in 24 minutes against Czechoslovakia during the 1954 tournament.
The milestone places Dembele among the select group of players to achieve such a record on football’s biggest stage.
Dembele continues impressive tournament form
The Ballon d’Or winner has now scored four goals in three matches at the 2026 World Cup.
He previously scored in France’s 3-0 victory over Iraq in their second group game.
His latest performance further strengthens his role as one of France’s key attacking players during the tournament.
France prepare for knockout stage
Following their strong group-stage campaign, France will now turn their attention to the Round of 32.
Dembele will hope to continue his form as Les Bleus face Sweden in the knockout stage on Tuesday.
