The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has apologised for the delay in releasing the second batch of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
Delay Sparks Concern Among CandidatesThe board had earlier scheduled Saturday for the release of the results but failed to meet the timeline, leading to frustration among candidates waiting for updates.
Reason for the Delay
In a statement issued on Sunday, JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, explained that the delay was due to the temporary unavailability of the board’s chief executive.
He assured candidates that the situation has been resolved and that the results will be released later in the day.
Results Expected Before Nightfall
According to JAMB, candidates who sat for the examination on Friday, April 17, should expect their results before nightfall.
The board also apologised to candidates who stayed up waiting for the release, thanking them for their patience and understanding.
First Batch Already Released
JAMB had earlier released the first batch of UTME 2026 results for candidates who wrote the examination on April 16.A total of over 600,000 results were made available in that batch.
How to Check UTME Results
Candidates can check their results by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number used during registration.

The board reiterated its commitment to transparency and timely communication.
It urged candidates to rely on official channels for updates regarding the UTME 2026 results delay and release.
