Popular Nigerian music stars Davido, Victony and Timaya have joined growing calls for urgent government intervention following the abduction of dozens of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
The entertainers appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intensify efforts to secure the release of the victims and address the persistent insecurity affecting several parts of the country.
The renewed calls come after gunmen reportedly attacked schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15, 2026, abducting students and teachers in an incident that has sparked widespread concern across Nigeria.
Growing Concern Over Victims’ Safety
According to reports, the attackers targeted Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, Community Grammar School, and L.A Primary School in Esiele.
The incident reportedly resulted in the kidnapping of 39 students and seven teachers. In addition, two teachers were said to have lost their lives during the attack, intensifying public outrage and fears over the safety of schoolchildren.
As families continue to await the safe return of their loved ones, pressure has mounted on security agencies and government authorities to act swiftly.
Victony Calls for Immediate Action
Reacting to the development, singer Victony used his social media platform to urge President Tinubu to take decisive steps toward ending insecurity and ensuring the safe return of kidnapped victims.
The artiste specifically highlighted the plight of children caught in the country’s security challenges, calling for urgent intervention.
Davido Expresses Deep Concern
Award-winning singer Davido also shared his reaction, describing the situation as heartbreaking.
The music star expressed sympathy for the victims and their families, noting that the continued suffering of abducted Nigerians should not become a normal occurrence.
He further called attention to the emotional toll the incident has placed on affected families while urging authorities to strengthen efforts toward ending the crisis.
Timaya Appeals for Stronger Security Response
Similarly, Timaya appealed to the Federal Government to intensify collaboration among security agencies and adopt more urgent measures to combat the growing wave of insecurity.
The singer stressed the need for a coordinated national response capable of protecting citizens and preventing future attacks on schools and communities.
Security Challenges Remain a National Concern
The abduction has once again placed Nigeria’s security situation under intense public scrutiny, particularly regarding the safety of educational institutions.
Analysts and civil society groups have repeatedly warned that attacks on schools not only threaten lives but also undermine access to education and community stability.
As calls for action continue to grow, many Nigerians are looking to the Federal Government and security agencies for swift results in securing the release of the kidnapped Oyo schoolchildren and preventing similar incidents across the country.
