A chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, Buba Galadima, has called on former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to join NDC, warning that failure to unite could weaken the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.

Galadima made the call during a live interview on Politics Today, where he stressed the need for strong opposition collaboration.

He said the push for Atiku join NDC is necessary to build a united front against the ruling party.

Call for Atiku to join NDC gains momentum

Galadima said several opposition leaders are already aligning under the Nigerian Democratic Congress.

He noted that efforts are ongoing to strengthen unity before the 2027 elections.

According to him, the call for Atiku join NDC is aimed at preventing division among opposition forces.

He added that a fragmented opposition could reduce chances of success at the polls.

Galadima warns of consequences if Atiku refuses

Galadima warned that if Atiku join NDC does not happen, it could affect the opposition’s chances.

He said Atiku may be blamed if unity efforts fail.

He also stated that staying outside the NDC could weaken coalition-building strategies.

According to him, unity remains the key factor for any successful political challenge.

Obi, Kwankwaso already aligned with NDC

Galadima referenced the recent political moves by Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Both leaders have aligned with the NDC as part of broader opposition restructuring.

Their move has increased pressure on others, including Atiku, to follow.

The push for Atiku join NDC is now seen as part of a larger political realignment.

ADC denies Atiku defection rumours

Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress has dismissed reports that Atiku plans to leave the party.

Allies of the former vice-president said no official decision has been made.

They maintained that Atiku remains committed to his current political platform.

2027 elections: focus on opposition unity

As the 2027 elections approach, political alignments continue to shift.

Observers say the debate around Atiku join NDC reflects growing efforts to form a strong opposition bloc.

Analysts believe unity among opposition leaders will play a major role in shaping the election outcome.
