ADC Primary: Wala Calls Election Results a “Shameless Auction” Amid Amaechi Protest

ADC party meeting and political figures reacting to presidential primary election controversy in Nigeria

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ibrahim Garba Wala, has strongly criticised the party’s presidential primary, describing it as a “shameless auction” and a breach of democratic principles.

His comments come amid growing internal tensions within the opposition party following disputes over the credibility of its presidential primary election.

Amaechi Rejects ADC Primary Results

The controversy intensified after former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi rejected the outcome of the primary, claiming it failed to meet acceptable standards of transparency and fairness.

Amaechi, who was one of the presidential aspirants in the race, argued that the process did not reflect democratic expectations within the party.

Wala Describes Primary as ‘Shameless Auction’

Reacting to the development, Wala openly supported Amaechi’s position, insisting that the exercise lacked credibility.

According to him, the primary process fell far below democratic standards and was instead driven by questionable practices.

“What we witnessed during the primary elections was not a democratic primary; it was a brazen, shameless auction that betrayed every value the ADC promised to uphold,” he stated.

Call for Atiku to Distance Himself

Wala further urged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to distance himself from what he described as manipulated or “concocted” election results.

His statement adds to growing political tension within opposition ranks as debates continue over internal party democracy and candidate selection processes.

Rising Tension in Opposition Politics

The dispute highlights ongoing challenges within opposition parties as they prepare for future elections, with internal disagreements over transparency and leadership selection becoming increasingly visible.

Political observers say the controversy could affect party unity if not addressed quickly.
