President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace love, tolerance and national unity as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

The President made the appeal on Wednesday after observing Eid prayers at the Dodan Barracks prayer ground in Lagos.

Tinubu Calls for Reflection and Unity

Speaking with journalists after the prayers, Tinubu expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity for Nigerians to witness another Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

He called on citizens to reflect on the values of the season, stressing the importance of peace and mutual respect.

According to him, the celebration should remind Nigerians of the need to live in harmony regardless of ethnic or religious differences.

The President emphasised that national progress depends on unity and compassion among citizens.

“Well, we thank God, Almighty Allah, who has provided for us and kept us to see another year, another Eid-el-Kabir,” he said.

“We must learn from the lessons of this season by showing love to one another. No discrimination, no ethnicity, no hatred.”

Tinubu Emphasises Generosity and National Values

Tinubu further encouraged Nigerians to show generosity and kindness, describing it as essential to building a stronger and more united country.

He said such values reflect both Nigeria’s identity and shared humanity.

“We should share love and be generous to one another in a way that reflects the values of our country and our common humanity,” he added.

Call for Tolerance and Respect for Law

The President also stressed the importance of tolerance, obedience to the will of God, and respect for the rule of law.

He noted that these principles are essential for maintaining peace and stability in society.

“It is essential that we remain tolerant, obedient to the will of Allah, and obedient to the rule of law,” Tinubu said.

Reflecting on the meaning of Eid-el-Kabir, Tinubu said the celebration underscores the sanctity of human life and the values of sacrifice.

He explained that the festival serves as a reminder of faith, obedience, and the importance of preserving life.
