Atletico Madrid Take Barcelona Transfer Dispute To FIFA Over Alvarez

Julian Alvarez linked with Barcelona transfer as Atletico Madrid respond

Atletico Madrid have reportedly decided to involve FIFA in a dispute over Barcelona’s interest in Argentina striker Julian Alvarez.

The development comes after Alvarez publicly indicated that he wants to leave Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window.

The forward is believed to be interested in joining Barcelona, a club he has reportedly admired for years.

Atletico refuse to consider Barcelona move

Atletico Madrid chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin made it clear that the club does not want to sell Alvarez, especially to their LaLiga rivals.

Speaking to EFE, Gil Marin said the striker’s comments came at an inappropriate moment and insisted Atletico’s position remains unchanged.

He stated that while Alvarez may have his own ambitions, Atletico supporters also have expectations regarding the player’s future.

The club executive added that Alvarez understands Atletico’s stance after discussions between both sides.

Transfer battle intensifies

Alvarez joined Atletico Madrid after leaving Manchester City and has become an important figure for the Spanish club.

The Argentina international’s future has attracted attention from several European giants.

Reports had earlier indicated that Real Madrid saw a major offer rejected by Atletico for the 26-year-old striker.

Barcelona’s interest has now added another layer to the transfer situation as Atletico continue to push for Alvarez to remain at the club.
