Ahanotu Criticises Peter Obi Over Political Structure Building

Peter Obi faces criticism from former Labour Party leader Kennedy Ahanotu over political structures

Former Labour Party National Youth Leader, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, has criticised former presidential candidate Peter Obi, accusing him of failing to develop strong political structures and maintain loyalty among supporters.

Ahanotu made the comments during an interview on TVC News, where he questioned Obi’s approach to political organisation and leadership.

According to him, effective leadership goes beyond personal popularity and requires building institutions that can continue to function independently.

Former LP chieftain raises concerns

Ahanotu argued that Obi’s political journey reflects a pattern of moving between different platforms without creating lasting structures within them.

“Peter Obi is not a builder of men; he abandons his own people,” he said.

He stated that political leaders should focus on empowering followers, strengthening party systems and creating a foundation that survives beyond an individual.

Call for stronger political institutions

The former Labour Party official also pointed to Obi’s previous political movements as part of his argument about party commitment.

He maintained that successful political leadership should be judged by the ability to develop people and build a sustainable organisation.

Ahanotu said political structures remain important because they help movements grow and remain effective even when individual personalities are no longer at the centre.
