A prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Emma Nwaka, has publicly declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid while also backing Abia State Governor Alex Otti for a second term in office.
The endorsement comes amid growing political discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections and is expected to generate fresh debate within political circles in Abia State and beyond.
Nwaka made his position known during a visit to Governor Otti, where he praised both the President’s economic reforms and the governor’s development record.
Nwaka Backs Tinubu’s Re-Election Ambition
The former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state chairman said he remains committed to the APC and believes President Tinubu deserves another term in office.
According to him, the administration inherited significant economic challenges but has introduced reforms aimed at repositioning the country.
Nwaka argued that while many of the policies are still unfolding, their long-term impact could help strengthen governance and economic growth.
He expressed confidence that the benefits of the reforms would become more visible to Nigerians over time.
Governor Otti Receives Strong Endorsement
Despite being a member of the APC, Nwaka also endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term, describing his administration as transformative.
He credited the governor with delivering infrastructure projects and restoring public confidence in governance across Abia State.
According to the APC chieftain, Otti’s performance has distinguished him from previous administrations and positioned the state on a path toward sustained development.
Equity and Power Rotation Debate
Nwaka also linked his endorsement to ongoing conversations about political power rotation within Abia State.
He argued that allowing Otti to complete two terms would preserve the existing balance in the state’s leadership arrangement and prevent disruptions to future zoning expectations.
According to him, any attempt to replace the governor after a single term could affect the broader political understanding regarding the rotation of power among the state’s senatorial districts.
Calls for Political Understanding
The APC leader appealed to party members who disagree with his position to consider the broader implications of political stability and continuity.
He maintained that his support for Otti is based on governance performance and what he described as the long-term interests of Abia State.
Nwaka also expressed appreciation to residents for their support of the governor and pledged to work toward securing Otti’s re-election.
Political Signals Ahead of 2027
The endorsement is one of the clearest indications yet of emerging alliances and political calculations ahead of the next election cycle.
With preparations for 2027 gradually taking shape, statements from influential political figures are expected to play a significant role in shaping conversations around governance, party loyalty and electoral strategy.
Political observers say endorsements such as this could influence future alignments both within Abia State and at the national level.
