Kwankwaso Speaks on Daughter’s Advice

Rabiu Kwankwaso speaking about Peter Obi during interview

Former Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has revealed that his daughter encouraged him to work with former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi during the 2023 general elections.

Kwankwaso made the disclosure while speaking about the political choices of young Nigerians and the growing influence of youth voters in the country.

During an interview on ARISE News, Kwankwaso said his daughter believed he should form an alliance with Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election.

According to the former Kano State governor, the younger generation is becoming more interested in good leadership than ethnic or religious politics.

“Even in the 2023 election, in my own house, my own daughter was telling me to go and work with Peter Obi,” Kwankwaso said.

Young Nigerians Want Better Leadership

Kwankwaso stated that many young Nigerians are now focusing on governance, accountability, and leadership quality.

He explained that political opinions among younger citizens are changing rapidly because of increased access to information and the influence of social media.

According to him, many political leaders still fail to understand the mindset of young voters across the country.

“You have leaders who hardly have any contact with the young men and women,” he stated.

Ethnicity and Religion Losing Influence Among Youths

The former governor stressed that younger Nigerians are becoming less concerned about ethnic and religious divisions during elections.

Kwankwaso said many youths now prioritise leaders they believe can solve Nigeria’s economic and political challenges.

“People are talking of religion. Some people are talking of ethnicity, but the younger people are looking for the right leadership for this country,” he added.

Kwankwaso and Obi Remain Key Political Figures

Kwankwaso and Peter Obi were among the major opposition candidates during the 2023 presidential election.

Both politicians continue to remain influential figures in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of future elections and coalition discussions.

Political analysts believe youth support could play a major role in shaping future elections in the country.

Rabiu Kwankwaso’s remarks highlight the growing political influence of Nigerian youths and the changing priorities among younger voters.

As conversations around leadership and governance continue, the role of young Nigerians in future elections is expected to become even more significant.
