Popular social media influencer and relationship therapist, Blessing CEO, has been arraigned before a Federal High Court in Lagos over an alleged ₦36 million fraud case.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed that the influencer, whose real name is Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, appeared before Justice Deinde Dipeolu at the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.
According to the anti-graft agency, the case involves allegations of obtaining money under false pretence and unlawful conversion of funds.
EFCC Details Alleged ₦36 Million Fraud
During the court proceedings, the EFCC alleged that the defendant received ₦36 million from a complainant under the claim of arranging a property lease in Lekki, Lagos.
The commission further stated that the money was allegedly converted for personal use.
Court documents presented during the arraignment claimed the transaction occurred between July 14 and July 17, 2024.
The prosecution maintained that the allegations violate provisions of Nigeria’s Advance Fee Fraud and Criminal Code laws.
Defence Says Partial Refund Has Been Made
Counsel to Blessing CEO informed the court that efforts were being made to resolve the matter amicably.
According to the defence, ₦24 million had already been refunded to the complainant, while discussions were ongoing regarding the remaining balance.
However, the EFCC prosecution team argued that the criminal case remains a matter between the defendant and the Federal Government, regardless of any private settlement talks.
The court subsequently ruled that the arraignment should proceed.
Blessing CEO Pleads Not Guilty
After the charges were read in court, Blessing CEO pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
Following her plea, the prosecution requested a trial date and asked the court to remand the defendant pending further proceedings.
The defence counsel, meanwhile, requested that she remain in EFCC custody temporarily while her bail application is prepared.
Justice Deinde Dipeolu granted the request and adjourned the matter until June 5, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
