EFCC Files Fresh Fraud Charges Against Blessing CEO Over Alleged Cancer Donation Scheme

Blessing CEO appearing in court as the EFCC pursues alleged fraud charges related to cancer donation claims.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed fresh charges against social media personality and self-styled relationship therapist, Blessing CEO, over allegations linked to an alleged N13 million cancer donation scheme.

The latest case was brought before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, where prosecutors accused her of obtaining funds under false pretences and allegedly presenting misleading medical information to members of the public.

The development marks another legal challenge for the influencer, coming shortly after a separate fraud-related case already before the courts.

Fresh Allegations Emerge

According to information released by the anti-graft agency, the new charges stem from complaints submitted by individuals and organizations, including stakeholders within Nigeria’s health advocacy community.

Investigators allege that donations were made by members of the public after claims circulated online that Blessing CEO was battling Stage 4 breast cancer.

Authorities, however, claim subsequent investigations raised questions about the authenticity of documents allegedly used to support the medical appeal.

EFCC Details Six-Count Charge

The EFCC disclosed that prosecutors filed a six-count charge against the defendant.

The commission said the case includes allegations relating to obtaining money by false pretence and retaining proceeds believed to have been acquired through deceptive representations.

The agency maintains that its investigation was triggered by multiple petitions received from concerned individuals and groups.

Legal Troubles Deepen

The fresh arraignment comes less than a day after Blessing CEO appeared before another court in connection with separate allegations involving an alleged N69.1 million fraud case.

The back-to-back legal proceedings have placed the influencer at the center of renewed public scrutiny.

Legal observers note that the outcome of the cases could have significant implications for social media fundraising campaigns and online credibility claims.

Court Proceedings Continue

At the time of filing this report, court proceedings were continuing as prosecutors prepared to present their case.

The defendant is expected to respond to the allegations in accordance with legal procedures.

As with all criminal proceedings, the charges remain allegations until proven in court.

The EFCC says investigations connected to the matter remain ongoing.
