A tragic accident occurred on Sunday in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, where a tipper truck crushed a nine-year-old girl to death.
The incident took place around Supare Junction along Supare Road in Akoko South West Local Government Area.
Police Confirm Fatal Accident
DSP Abayomi Jimoh, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Ondo State, confirmed the incident to reporters in Akure.
He stated, “The Police Command in Ondo State regrets to confirm a fatal motor accident in Akungba-Akoko, resulting in the death of a 9-year-old girl.”
The victim was reportedly knocked down by an unregistered Mercedes-Benz tipper truck and rushed to the hospital, where she was sadly confirmed dead.
Driver Arrested, Investigation Underway
The driver of the tipper truck has been arrested, and the vehicle was recovered for inspection. A thorough investigation has commenced to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
“The command commiserates with the family of the deceased and assures the public that justice will be served,” DSP Jimoh added.
