The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has suspended referee Terwase Chia for the remainder of the 2025/2026 season of the Nigeria National League (NNL) following disciplinary action taken by the federation.
According to the federation’s disciplinary committee, the official was penalized for unprofessional conduct during a league fixture involving Gombe United and Jigawa Golden Stars.
The committee reviewed the incident and concluded that the referee’s actions during the match did not meet the professional standards expected of match officials in the league.
Club Also Sanctioned
In addition to the referee’s suspension, Gombe United was also sanctioned by the disciplinary panel.
The club was found responsible for fans encroaching onto the playing area during the match, which violates league regulations. As a result, the team has been fined N1 million.
NFF Emphasises Discipline
The NFF reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline and professionalism across Nigerian football competitions.
Officials stated that the federation will continue to enforce rules to ensure fairness, safety, and integrity in the Nigeria National League.
